The Cloud Gatherer

Saul Alpert-Abrams makes original porcelain and stoneware ceramics in his home studio in the Parkridge neighborhood of Knoxville. Some of his pieces are thrown on the wheel, but the majority he builds using soft and hard slab techniques. He also designs work using CAD programs on the computer, which he then 3d prints and makes molds of before casting in porcelain. He concocts original glazes for his pieces and fires them with custom kiln schedules, dependent on the glaze. All his work is functional, and he designs the forms with function and beauty in mind.

Tried By Fire Studio

I was the kid who used to draw on herself. A creative from a young age. When I got older, I fell in love with pottery! I started college for Business Management in 2017 and became the production glazer at McQueen Pottery the same year. After 4 years of learning the trade, I left to pursue my own vision in 2022. Now, I draw on pottery and that makes my inner child pretty dang happy.

West Knox Pots

I am a beginner potter who makes functional, wheel-thrown pottery. Because of my graphic design background, I love combining shapes and texture to create unique pieces that feel good in your hands. I also love exploring the hand building side of ceramics, which adds a whole new difficult, yet exciting aspect!

Dust to Dust Studio

Items made at Dust to Dust Studio stem from a love for nature, food, and the home. Risings Moons Farms is home and where I get to harvest garden produce and collect farm fresh eggs. These tasks feed into my art practice by allowing me to create functional items for the home and garden that are also decorative and explore farm to table goods. My broom and ceramic pieces are inspired by nature, and I enjoy using the smaller moments in nature, such as fungi, to embellish and guide my planters or other household goods such as herb strippers, cups, bowls, and brooms.

Ceramic Functional and Decorative Pieces

All my pieces are made using traditional clay bodies. My handmade one-of-a-kind functional & decorative stoneware pieces have unique surface designs that I hand-carve to compliment the form of the piece.

I make pots, sculptures, collages and paintings

I make functional, small-batch pottery with a modern aesthetic. My forms are traditional in shape but highly decorative, utilizing underglaze and slip techniques to add texture and images to the surface of the pots. I also create sculptures from repurposed plaster casts that have traditionally been utilized in the production of porcelain dolls. In addition, I create cut paper and digital collages and paintings.

Handbuilt pottery

My pottery is influenced by My love of nature and vintage items. I often texturize leather hard clay by pressing real leaves or doilies into the clay. My latest and most popular venture is my Hiker Mugs on which I draw a customized hiker onto a carved mountain scene. I hand build my mugs and most other items lending unique characteristics that aren’t seen in wheel thrown pottery.

Functional, sculptural and wearable glass and clay

I see the world in components, little pieces fit together to make the whole. My work is much the same. I create components and then mix and match those components into functional, sculptural or wearable works.
